It is important for us to record and save our history for future generations. Today, as we have everything provided basically at the turn of a tap or flick of a switch, it is important to understand what it was like for our pioneers. The hardships they faced to find even a drink of water, something to eat, and all with no medical facilities or access to any form of transport other than horse and cart or just their feet.
No water. No food. No electricity. No phone. No roads. No railway. No hospital or doctor. No shops. In fact, absolutely nothing except uncleared bushland, local fauna, and the occasional aborigine (who were able to live and thrive in this harsh country).
Our pioneers were a hardy lot. They had to be simply to survive. Yet they built homes, cleared land by hand, established farms, built towns with schools and hospitals, and built roads and railways. And all this hard work has created the community we have today.
